North West: Raise 530 million to support Biya’s Campaign
North West: Raise 530 million to support Biya’s Campaign

The elite have beaten  the target of half a billion two months after the exercise- an initiative of Prime Minister, Philemon Yang, was launched in Yaounde on July 13 this year.

In the last two months elite of the North West have moved to several towns in the country galvanizing quasi domiciles of North West origin to support the idea. Yaounde, Bamenda, Buea, Limbe are some of the towns. Elite resident in towns not visited by the caravan were encouraged to send their free will donations to the central unit in Yaounde.

According to the elite making the donation it is an indication that North West wants to build a future and go beyond motions.Yang thinks that with the exercise being voluntary, “it is a mark of trust and confidence” North West has in its “beloved leader”-Paul Biya.

Some major donors include the Prime Minister, the Minister of Culture, the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development and the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Justice in charge of Penitentiary Administration, El Hadji Baba Amadou Danpullo who is the national coordinator of the exercise, Ngamfon Awanga Zachariah, co- national chairperson and assistant North West coordinator , Fon Chafah XI of Bangolan, former Minister, Hon Francis Nkwain and the Director of Cabinet at the Prime Minister’s Office.

The final grand meeting scheduled for September 10 in Bamenda to raise more funds for the champion of the Cpdm has been postponed to a later date yet to be announced, it emerged.

Meanwhile militants of the Cameroon People Democratic Movement (Cpdm) in Fako have raised a cumulative sum of about FCFA 30 million to support the party’s campaign in the upcoming presidential election. These fundraisings have taken place in the absence of the press.
